Let speed of current = $$x$$ km/h => Speed of boat in still water = $$x + (frac{500}{100} imes x)$$ = $$x + 5x = 6x$$ km/h => Speed of the boat downstream = $$6x + x = 7x$$ km/h Speed of boat upstream = $$6x - x = 5x$$ km/h $$ herefore$$ Required ratio = $$frac{7x}{5x}$$ = $$7 : 5$$
