    Let there be N number of total sweets.
    Let each student recieve x sweets.
    Initially each student recieved x sweets i.e (N/300) = x
    Afterwards, 50 students were absent.
    Now, each student recieved (x+1) sweets i.e (N/300) = x+1
    Solving the simultaneius equations we get,
    x=5
    and hence there will be total N=5*300 = 1500 sweets.
    Option C is correct option.
