1. On Teacher’s Day sweets were to be equally distributed amongst 540 children. But on that particular day 135 children remained absent hence each child got 2 sweets extra. How many sweets was each child originally supposed to get ?

Let the number of sweet that were supposed to have been distributed originally for each child be X.
So, total number of sweets = 540*X However, as only 540-135 = 405 students came, each student received X+2 sweets.
So, total number of sweets = 405*(X+2) As these two are equal, 540*X = 405*(X+2)
Or, 4X = 3(X+2) So, X=6
