Let total number of votes polled = $$100x$$
=> Number of valid votes = $$frac{90}{100} imes100x=90x$$
% of valid votes received by winning candidate = 70%, => By losing candidate = 30% Difference between votes = $$frac{40}{100} imes90x=9000$$ => $$36x=9000$$ => $$x=frac{9000}{36}=250$$ $$ herefore$$ Total number of votes polled = $$100 imes250=25000$$ => Ans - (B)
