Let maximum marks = $$100x$$ => Passing marks = $$frac{36}{100} imes 100x = 36x$$ According to ques, => $$36x - 37 = 53$$ => $$36x = 53 + 37 = 90$$ => $$x = frac{90}{36} = 2.5$$ $$ herefore$$ Maximum marks = $$100 imes 2.5 = 250$$
