Let the angle = $$ heta$$ Its complementary angle = $$( heta - 40$$°$$)$$ Sum of an angle and its complementary angle = 90° => $$ heta + ( heta - 40$$°$$) = 90$$° => $$2 heta = 90$$°$$ + 40$$°$$ = 130$$° => $$ heta = frac{130}{2} = 65$$°
