Let length of rectangle = $$10$$ and breadth = $$8$$ units Area = $$10 imes8=80$$ sq. units Length is increased by 60%, => New length = $$10+(frac{60}{100} imes10)=16$$ units For area to remain the same, new breadth = $$frac{80}{16}=5$$ units => % decrease in breadth = $$frac{(8-5)}{8} imes100$$ = $$frac{300}{8}=37.5\%$$ => Ans - (D)
