    let the amount of 25% alcohol and 50% alcohol added be y ltr and z ltr respectively . It is given that solution should have 40% alcohol content So , $$frac {(25y+50z)}{y+z}$$ = 40 $$frac {y}{z}$$ = $$frac {2}{3} $$
