    The bell rings 3 times at beginning of school, at the end of school and at beginning of lunch and at the end of lunch so that makes up 12 gongs. Then it rings after every half an hour . 8.30 9.00 9:30 = 3 times (We have already counted the bell at 10.00 and 10.30 for lunch ) 11.00 11.30 12.00 12.30=5 times So total 12+3+5=20 times
