Let the original marks of the student = $$100x$$ Marks after re-evaluation = $$frac{60}{100} imes 100x = 60x$$ => $$60x = 96$$ => $$x = frac{96}{60} = 1.6$$ Thus, original marks = 100 * 1.6 = 160 $$ herefore$$ Marks lost after re-evaluation = 160 - 96 = 64
