Slope of line passing through $$(x_1,y_1)$$ and $$(x_2,y_2)$$ is $$frac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1}$$ => Slope of line passing through (-2,-1) and (6,3) = $$frac{3 + 1}{6 + 2} = frac{4}{8}$$ Slope of line passing through (-3,1) and (x,5) = $$frac{5 - 1}{x + 3} = frac{4}{(x + 3)}$$ Also, slopes of parallel lines are equal. => $$frac{4}{x + 3} = frac{4}{8}$$ => $$x + 3 = 8$$ => $$y = 8 - 3 = 5$$ => Ans - (D)
