Let Ramesh starts from point A and moved towards east for 30 m to reach point B, then turned right for 40 m and stopped at point C. Thus, in $$ riangle$$ ABC, => $$(AC)^2=(AB)^2+(BC)^2$$ => $$(AC)^2=(30)^2+(40)^2$$
=> $$(AC)^2=900+1600=2500$$ => $$AC=sqrt{2500}=50$$ m Thus, Ramesh is 50 m south-east of his original position. => Ans - (D)
