1. Rajan walks 24 metres towards east. Then turns right and walk another 24 metres. Then turn right and walks for 31 metres to reach shop A. He again turns to his right and walks for 24 metres. What is the straight line distance (in metres) between the starting point and shop A?

Let Rajan starts from point S and walks 24 metres towards east to reach E. Then turns right and walk another 24 metres southwards to reach B. Then turn right and walks for 31 metres to reach shop A. He again turns to his right and walks for 24 metres towards north to finally reach C. Thus, in right triangle SAC, using Pythagoras Theorem : => $$(SA)^2=(AC)^2+(CS)^2$$ => $$(SA)^2=(24)^2+(7)^2$$
=> $$(SA)^2=576+49=625$$ => $$SA=sqrt{625}=25$$ m $$ herefore$$ Distance between the starting point and shop A = 25 m => Ans - (C)
