let the total number of students be y As it is given that 40 % joined grouo A and so the remaining are = y - 0.4y = 0.6y Now it is given that 75% of the remaining joined grouop B so remaining students are = 0.75 x 0.6y = 0.45 y Remaining students are = 0.6y - 0.45 y = 0.15y Given that 0.15y = 2 y=80 Students applied for the group = 80
