Let the number of students who failed = $$x$$ => Number of students who passed = $$(50 - x)$$
Acc. to ques, => $$frac{(52 imes (50 - x)) + (16 imes x)}{50} = 34$$ => $$52 imes 50 - 52x + 16x = 34 imes 50$$ => $$52x - 16x = 50 imes (52 - 34)$$ => $$36x = 50 imes 18$$ => $$x = frac{50 imes 18}{36} = 25$$
