Let the number of boys in the school = $$x$$ number of girls = $$y$$ => Number of boys who participated in sports = $$frac{3}{7} x = 138$$ => $$x = frac{138 imes 7}{3} = 322$$ Number of girls who participated = $$frac{4}{9} y = 302 - 138$$ => $$frac{4y}{9} = 164$$ => $$y = frac{164 imes 9}{4} = 369$$ $$ herefore$$ Total students in the school = 369 + 322 = 691
