E ran faster than only two friends, => E is the third fastest runner. A ran faster than D but slower than B, => B > A > D. B did not run the fastest, => C ran the fastest. Combining above possibilities, we get : $$ herefore$$ C > B > E > A > D Thus, A ran the second slowest. => Ans - (E)
