Let radius = 10 cm => Area of circle = $$pi (10)^2 = 100 pi$$ sq. cm If radius is increased by 17%, => New radius = 11.7 cm New area = $$pi (11.7)^2 = 136.89 pi$$ sq. cm => % increase in area = $$frac{136.89 - 100}{100} imes 100$$ = 36.89 %
