Slope of line passing through $$(x_1,y_1)$$ and $$(x_2,y_2)$$ is $$frac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1}$$ => Slope of the line passing through the points (-5,1) and (x,-4) = $$frac{-4 - 1}{x + 5} = frac{-5}{8}$$ => $$frac{-5}{x + 5} = frac{-5}{8}$$ => $$x + 5 = 8$$ => $$x = 8 - 5 = 3$$ => Ans - (B)
