Let marked price of table = Rs. $$100x$$ Discount % = 20% => Selling price = $$100xfrac{(100-20)}{100}=Rs.$$ $$80x$$ Profit % = 60% => Cost price = $$80x imesfrac{100}{(100+60)}=Rs.$$ $$50x$$ Now, selling price if discount is 40% = $$100xfrac{(100-40)}{100}=Rs.$$ $$60x$$ $$ herefore$$ New profit % = $$frac{(60x-50x)}{50x} imes100$$ = $$10 imes2=20\%$$ => Ans - (A)
